Why use Hot Oil / How do I use it??

'Hot Oil' treatments have been used as the primary way to condition hair by many cultures around the world since ancient egyptian times.  Special blends of oils and aromatics were gently warmed and applied to the hair and scalp to not only condition the hair, but also to soothe irritations and moisturise the skin.  Hi Shine Hot Oil Treatments have used these same time tested principles, and formulated our oils to best suit Equine hair and skin.

Sun, sweat, sand, rugging, illness, injury and constant washing/hosing all contribute to making a horses coat, mane and tail dry, dull and brittle. Excessive sweating can also lead to bleaching on dark coloured coats and dry flakey skin.  Many horses are not able to be fed oil and oil seed products in the diet, and this also contributes to a dull coat. Clipping is also particularly hard on the coat.

Using Hi Shine Hot Oil is very simple and easy. There are no hard and fast rules, use as little or as much as you like depending on how much conditioning is required. Mix Hot Oil with warm water in a bucket/container, and sponge or pour over the horses coat. Massage in if you want to treat your horse! The treatment can be rinsed off, or left on the coat. Tails can be wrapped up with the oil left in... this makes a brilliant difference to the hair.  Mixing Hi Shine Hot Oil with warm water gives the most effective results, but it can also be used cold water!  The object is to warm up the skin to open up the folicles so the oil is absorbed more easily, so if no warm water is available, just use the Hot Oil with cold water, on a warm horse.

What's the Hi Shine difference??

Hi Shine Hot Oils are specially designed to be mild and non irritating for even the most sensitive horses hair & skin. Similar treatments designed for human hair usually contain many harsh chemicals that can be very irritating to fine equine skin. Human hair oil treatments are also often sold in very small packages & contain a good deal of water, so to effectively treat an entire horse would cost a fortune. 

Hi Shine Hot Oils are also a superior and far more effective treatment for healthy, shiny hair than commonly used Bath Oil products. Bath Oils are emollients for human skin, not hair, and really only put a greasy film over the coat with very little shine enhancement.

The Hi Shine Hot Oil ingredients deliver moisture and nutrients that are absorbed by the skin and hair, while the shine enhancing ingredients leave a brilliant ‘dry’, long lasting gloss on the hair.
